Prime Minister Theresa May says she will contest the vote of no confidence with "everything" she has. She added a change in leadership would "create uncertainty" and "put the country's future at risk". Mrs May faces a leadership contest after the 1922 Committee received the necessary 48 letters to trigger a vote of no confidence.
