Scoochie Smith Leads UD in Blue-Red Game

DAYTON -- The University of Dayton men's basketball team was in action for the first time this season in the annual Red and Blue game held at UD Arena on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Flyers played in two separate halves consisting of 10 minutes each. The players switched teams after the first half.
 
The Blue team topped the Red Team 20-17 in the first half. The Red Team prevailed in the second half 25-22.
 
Scoochie Smith led four Flyers in double-figures with a game-high 16 points 6-of-8 shooting from the field, including 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. Charles Cooke tallied 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field, while Dyshawn Pierre scored 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting.
 
Preseason First Team All-Atlantic 10 selection, Jordan Sibert, tallied 10 points and Devon Scott added nine points.
 
In the first half, the Red Team consisted of Kyle Davis, Dyshawn Pierre, Darrell Davis, Devon Scott, Scoochie Smith and Bobby Wehrli. Ryan Bass, Steve McElvene, Kendall Pollard, Charles Cooke, Jordan Sibert, Jalen Robinson, Joey Gruden, and Nick Haldes were on the Blue Team.
 
In the second half Robinson, Cooke and Gruden switched over to the Red Team while Darrell Davis and Pierre switched to the Blue Team.
 
Dayton will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 8 as the take on Southern Indiana in the team's only exhibition game. Tip-off from UD Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
