Listen as through the magic of computer software, a voice was pulled from a recording made near the year 1942. Some additional information added by the owner of the disc: Russ (the voice on the disc) and his unit left on November 3, 1942, on Peggy (the woman he addresses in the recording's) 20th birthday. Nine months later on August 2, 1943, my mother, Sharon, was born in Portland. Her Grandfather Edward (Russ' dad) wrote a lovely poem for her birth. Russ fought valiantly through Guadalcanal and Tarawa but he eventually was Killed in Action in Saipan in June 1944. He never got to meet his daughter in person.
