This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Worldwide education is facing a number of challenges: top-level education is not accessible for all students due to the cost price, the education infrastructure cannot follow the growth of the world population and innovation in classic forms of education is slow. But it can be different. Arno Smets presents a success story. Last year 60,000 students followed the course of the associate professor of TU Delft; this year the counter has reached 30,000. Be inspired by this 'internet professor' and his belief in the MOOC as a new educational method! Associate Professor Delft University About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
