A simple free game made by Crystal Light Stage, creators of games like Magical Feeling and Another Bound. This game was created with the relatively new "Action Game Tsukuru", which is in the "Tsukuru Family" with things like Fighter Maker and RPG Maker. The engine can deliver "High Resolution" graphics and lots of action, but is a bit of a resource hog as a result. The smallest window I could get for the game was 1280x720.

You play with a magical girl named Toryufi and the game is classified as a Mini-STG due to its low number of levels... not sure why though. Ikaruga was hardly what you'd call long and most shooters are short anyway until you factor in the potential for replayability. Rather than call it "mini", it should be called "A Beginners Shmup" as it is largely a very easy game.

You have three basic ways to become powerful. You can collect nothing but blue gems (harder but recommended) and get a super-powerful water beam, collect nothing but red gems and get a widespread fire beam, or collect both to quickly upgrade your standard shot. All three methods work well enough, but the blue beam can kill bosses with power to spare, and you're invincible when using either the blue or red special. The main level theme reminds me of something straight out of Grandia II and the boss theme is surprisingly hardcore. Not much else to say really. It's free. You can get it below.
