The Hubble Space Telescope has been orbiting the earth since 1990 and for years has been sending back images that have provided scientists with information and insights about outer space and the history of the universe. Now, a crew of astronauts on board the U.S. space shuttle Atlantis is preparing to make repairs and upgrade equipment on the aging telescope. VOA's Daniela Schrier produced this montage of images and commentary about Hubble's legacy as the orbiting telescope undergoes its fifth and final makeover.
