This is a quick test of a installation of Elementary OS Luna in my wife's old Laptop a really sturdy and good quality Toshiba Satellite A135 (Circa 2007).

It works really good for an older PC, Elementary does a great job detecting all the hardware and I think it could be a really nice everyday computer altogether!
