This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. A fascinating account of how the pillars of innovation in Bendigo were established by those who lived in the city over a hundred years ago. A town with a rich history of innovation, can maintain its progress if it respects its past and traditions. To have an exciting present, we need have a vision that understands our history. Darcey is currently studying for her Victorian Certificate of Education. She is the fourth generation of her family that calls Bendigo home. It is through the eyes of her family and their rich involvement in creating Bendigo's history that allows Darcey to tell story of why a sense of innovation impacted so strongly. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
