On 5 May a Nasa rocket will leave California on an interplanetary journey to Mars. Its aim? To learn how the red planet was formed. The Atlas 5 will take six months to get there and then spend two years on Mars studying the planet. A team of London scientists has come up with the most vital tool for the mission a seismometer which will detect "mars-quakes" and probe the surface of the planet. Sarah Harris reports.
