FINISHED BLOCK SIZE: 11"

FABRICS USED: 

Fabric A-CAP-CR-1201- Zigzagged Pyramids
Fabric B-CAP-CR-1205- Blossoming Mosaic
Fabric C-CAP-CR-1207-East West Arrowheads
Fabric D-CAP-CR-1203-1203- Clover Compass
Fabric E- CAP-CR-1204- Marked Sights
Fabric F- CAP-CR-1202- Rhombi Abroad 

CUTTING DIRECTIONS:

One (1) 3 1/2" square from Fabric A 
Four (4) 3 1/2" square from Fabric B
One (1) 6" square from Fabric C and D
Eight (8)  1 1/2" squares from Fabric D
Four (4) 1 1/2" x 5" strips from Fabric E 
Four (4) 1 1/2" x 6" strips from Fabric E 
Four (4) 2 1/2" squares from Fabric F

BLOCK INSTRUCTION: 

To make four at a time Half Square Triangles  you will need  a  6” square from Fabric C and D. 
Place them right sides together and sew at ¼” around all sides of your square. 

With a straight edge and rotary cutter cut your pieces on both diagonals. To reveal 4 hst’s ! 

Trim your hst’s to 3 ½”! 

To create your center block sew your three rows together like this. 

Making sure you press your seams in alternating directions so your seams will match up perfectly. 

Set your center block aside and it’s time to sew your border strips. 

Take all of your 1 ½” wide strips and place a 1 ½” square on each end of your strip like  this. 

Draw a diagonal line with a fabric marking pen on each square making sure half of your lines are going to the right and the other to the left.

Sew on the diagonal line you drew and trim your seam allowance to ¼”.  Press your pieces open and sew your same length strips together as follows. 

Sew your top and bottom borders to your center block. Now you can attach your side borders in the same manner. 

Looking good, the last step is to draw a diagonal line on all your 2 ½” squares from Fabric F and place them in each corner of your blocks like this. Sew on the line you drew and trim up your seam allowance to ¼”. Press your corners out and your Star Spindle   Block is complete!
