Calm morning flight to explore the lighthouse. Built in 1825, the Cape Florida Lighthouse is recognized as the oldest structure in South Florida and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. It was restored in 1967-70 and again in 1992-96. It was the only lighthouse to have been attacked by Indians. A U.S. Army base was built here to protect the land and sea from subsequent Indian attacks.
