In his first adventure outside the walls of The McKittrick Hotel, Calloway visits the TEDxGowanus stage. Calloway has spent his life living by the lessons his mother taught him: eat cheese every day, charge like the hippopotamus, and drink until your fingers shrivel up like baby in a kitchen sink bath. And most important of all: the key to survival is to stop thinking about other people and start thinking about yourself. These lessons don't mesh very well with TEDxGowanus' theme of "Inspiring Community." Will Hans, the supple, German, man-boy and the power of TEDx be able to change Calloway's heart? For more talks and performances from TEDxGowanus please visit www.tedxgowanus.com In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
