(24 Nov 2018) Protests in Pakistan continued on Saturday following the arrest of radical Islamic cleric Khadim Hussain Rizvi. The leader of the Tehreek-e-Labbaik party was arrested by police, along with 300 of his supporters, for disrupting daily life with nationwide rallies. Rizvi's supporters held violent rallies against the acquittal of a Christian woman sentenced to death for blasphemy last month. The Supreme Court acquitted Aasia Bibi on October 31. Rizvi has called for more protests on Sunday in the capital, Islamabad. Police also arrested scores of Rizvi's supporters as they took to streets to protest his overnight arrest. Pakistan's hard-line Islamists have threatened to kill anyone who insults Islam or who speaks out against the blasphemy law.
