In their efforts to save Niassa’s elephants from extinction, rangers put their lives on the line, regularly facing off with poachers in shoot-outs, often under-equipped and overworked. What carries them through long, dangerous months covering vast terrain is courage, a belief in the service, encouragement from their family, a love for the animals, and a desire to protect the country’s resources and safeguard the wildlife for their children and grandchildren. This video series was created by Raul Gallego Abellan for the Global Wildlife Program (GWP).
