What's Up Heathens! Today we are looking at a video from Questions From Atheists asking if the historicity of Jesus is as reliable as a fingerprint. Of course, it isn't that simple nor is it that solid. So basically this guy starts off on a bad foot by assuming prophecies are real. Then building off of that assumption he makes a statistical case about Jesus. Honestly, this entire argument only supports my case for a mythical Jesus rather than a historical one. Because it not only assumes that the prophecies are legitimate but that they also legitimately came true via a real live person. The only way to really know anything about this real live person is through the Gospels. He also has some dubious methods for his statistical work. He doesn't show his references for birth rates or estimations on population sizes. It really comes off as pulling numbers out of his butt. Regardless of his statistical inequities, his entire argument is predicated on the idea that vaguely prophetic statements in the Old Testament somehow prove that Jesus existed because they appear in the Old Testament. This is not how actual historical studies work.
