(1 Oct 2018) GIAMBATTISTA VALLI INSPIRED BY INDIA FOR NEW COLLECTION It was while traveling in India that Giambattista Valli found his inspiration for his spring-summer 2019 ready-to-wear collection, shown at the Palais des Congrès in Paris on Monday (1 OCTOBER 2018) afternoon. As he explained, he was listening to Yoko Ono music and realized how "fantastic" she is. Then he was reading Pier Paolo Pasolini's autobiographical work "Scent of India," and decided to combine the two for a collection that brought together her free spirit and his deep soul. The show started with a series of white outfits, structured or flowing, some with contrasting tiger-striped fur pieces, and worn with flat (sometimes feathered) sandals. The second half of the collection introduced colors and prints, including a lip motif taken from Yoko Ono's sketches. Floral prints adorned loose silk dresses that were short in the front and long in back, while narrow suits were also embroidered with flowers. Among the personalities sitting front row were Valentino's creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli, as well as François and François-Henri Pinault, whose private investment firm, Artémis, recently took a minority stake in Valli's fashion house.
