Nice Wines helps save the hearts of local children through sales of its "Ariana" wine. Award-winning Nice Wines lives up to its name when it comes to giving back to the community. This organic, sustainable winery, owned by Ryan Levy and Ian Eastveld, donated to over 150 Houston-area charities last year, with a mission to help local children. Now, it has produced the “Ariana” wine, a grenache blanc and viognier blend, to support OpHeart. OpHeart was started by Anne Garcia after her daughter, Ariana, was found to have an undiagnosed congenital heart defect. Ariana underwent two open-heart surgeries to fix her heart and is now a lively little girl. OpHeart’s mission is to improve the quality of care for kids who require surgery to survive. They provide surgeons with new tools and technologies for the operating room. Dr. Jorge Salazar, Chief of Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery at Children’s Memorial Hermann, is one of the doctors who has used tools, such as virtual reality and a 3D-printed model of patients’ hearts, in the operating room provided by OpHeart. Dr. Salazar says these technologies make unimaginable surgeries possible. The “Ariana” wine is $24 at NiceWines.com. (http://www.nicewines.com/Charity/Ariana-Charity-Wine) 30% of the purchase price goes to OpHeart. To make a direct donation to OpHeart, log on to OpHeart.org.
