Why do we do it? Why are we constantly duped into upgrading our devices? It's a clever battle of wills: you're recording something, but you need more sounds or plugins. The answer? Upgrade your device so you can download the latest plugins. Where does it stop? None of the above is meant to appear reactionary: it's meant to be a practical solution for not tearing your hair out with frustration because the thing won't record when you need it to. It's also the human musician that makes a record, regardless of what is available. Would Jimi Hendrix sound better on iOS 9 or iOS 12? Windows 7 or 10? I use a 5th generation iPad with iOS 11 GarageBand, and that's how it's going to stay. iOS 12? I don't know anything about it. I have no idea how my device would perform with it. Why would I do it then? Ask yourself - if upgrades are free, then the saying "there's no such thing as a free lunch" should be rearing its head....
