Shu Schiller is a professor of information systems at Wright State University. She teaches various topics about information technologies and how they help make businesses better. She has a passionate interest in improving communication and collaboration in today's highly networked society. In a world where countless machines and electronic devices are creating and exchanging enormous amount of digital information beyond our comprehension, powerful technologies can help us to better understand ourselves and the world around us. Data analytics not only improve our insights but also provide meaningful and relevant evidence for actions that can change our lives and the world we live in. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
