The main theme for TEDxStetsonU 2014 is "Significance in Action: Creating Learning, Innovation and Happiness". Dr. Paul Croce is a Professor of History and American Studies at Stetson University and also recently the President of the James Society. Inspired by James's commitment to public intellectual work, he teaches and researches topics dealing with major value questions in American culture. The title of Dr. Croce's presentation "Water From a Fire Hose: Information Abundance and Liberal Learning," discusses the importance of liberal learning for providing mental maps through information abundance in order to gain understanding, foster creativity, and solve problems. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
