Historic achievements by the Muslim Community of Guyana on this visit

Representatives of several overseas Muslim organizations attended the programs. Maulana Waffee Mohammed, the veteran Muslim Scholar as well as Imam Raffik represented the twin island Republic of Trinidad & Tobago while Al Haj Basheer Khodabux & Hajji Sarafat Ally of Hedayatul Islam, represented Suriname. From Canada, Secretary of the International Muslim Organization (IMO) of Toronto, Canada, Ameer Ali, and Trustee of the Sunnatul Masjid of Ontario, Canada, Hajji Twiab Khan attended the programs. From Holland, Hadji Abdus sattar Janki represented his country. Sister Rabia of the Pearls of Islam Group out of the United Kingdom was a feature at the events and the delegation comprised persons from Senegal, Guadeloupe and several other countries following the Eminent Shaykh. It was truly an international event and when the time of the Salaatus salaam (end) of the program at ACIC, persons representing ten (10) countries were on stage to render that beautiful sign of Sunni Muslims.  
 
The Main Mawlid Program at ACIC was historic in many ways. In addition to the presence of persons from over 15 (fifteen) overseas countries, for the first time ever, there was a Live Radio Coverage on as well as a live video stream via the internet. Maulana Dr. Waffee Mohammed was also in Guyana to be part of the official launch of the Guyana Branch of the Markaz, at the Anna Catherina Islamic Complex. His Eminence, Maulana Hisham Kabbani together with Maulana Waffee and President General of ACIC, Hakeem Khan, unveiled the plaque at ACIC to official signal the opening of classes (which will start on December 14). The Guyana Branch of the Markaz will offer the Certificate Course with Lecturers from Trinidad & Tobago who will travel to Guyana to conduct the classes. 
 
The main program was held on Friday last at the Anna Catherina Islamic Complex, West Coast Demerara. His Eminence also delivered the Friday Juma Sermon at the Queenstown Jama Masjid the same day. Other programs were held at Peter's Hall Jama Masjid, EBD and Mon Repos Masjid. Dr. Kabbani and his delegation also paid courtesy calls on His Excellency Presdent Donald Ramoutar, Leader of the Opposition Hon. David Granger and Attorney General & Minister of Legal Affairs, Hon. Anil Nandlall. He also met with members of the Muslim organizations of Guyana and visited the Shaheed Orphanages during a packed itinerary.
 
The visit of Shaykh Hisham follows the visit to Guyana of another eminent Muslim Scholar early in the year, His Eminence Huzoor Maulana Zain ul Akhtab Siddique. Not since the Late Maulana Shamshuddin, Late Maulana Shah Ahmad Nooranie and Late Maulana Abdul Aleem Siddiqui (may God's Mercy be on all of them) made their visit here to this part of the world spanning in the middle and latter half of the last century, had the visits of any other Muslim scholars to Guyana generated the hype as these visits of Maulana Zain & Maulana Hishama.
 
Shaykh Hisham's visit to Guyana was fully supported by the Central Islamic Organization of Guyana (CIOG) and had the blessings of all other Muslim organizations here.
 
At the main program at the Anna Catherina Islamic Complex, Guyana's leading Islamic center, His Eminence Shaikh Hisham electrified his audience when he led the Zikr program himself along with Ali Elsayed. Attending this program were Minister Anil Nandlall, Opposition MP, Ronald Bulkan, Fmr. President of the Sadr Anjuman, Hajji Shams Rahaman, Shaikh Zakir & Shaikh Hafeez of CIOG, Representative of Guyana Islamic Trust and many other Imams & Presidents of Jamaats throughout the country. The packed Lecture Hall was treated to a never before singing of Nasheeds by Ali Al Sayed of great eloquence. Minister Nandlall lauded the Muslim community for bringing such distinguish scholar to Guyana. He expressed the hope that the Branch of the Islamic school soon to be opened at ACIC will serve this country well. Hon. Ronad Bulkan representing the Leader of the Opposition, Hon. David Granger in his remarks, complimented the Muslim community for the historic hosting of such eminent Muslim personality. The program was interspaced with Quranic renditions, Qaseedas by Maulana Muhammad Mujahid, the resident Muslim scholar at ACIC.  
 
The programs saw large gatherings at each one of them. Many overseas Guyanese Muslims took the opportunity to return home for the visit of the eminent scholar and delegation. In the end, everyone who attended the programs expressed the view that the Guyanese Muslim community has never seen such programs ever before.
