Roselawn man crashes his own car to end abduction

ROSELAWN, Ohio (WKRC) - Lonzo Jones said his Friday morning was pretty typical until a man walked up to him with a gun and demanded cash.

Jones said he was unloading groceries from the car just before 7 a.m. after his wife arrived home from work. He lives on Eastlawn Drive. Jones said a man with a gun started to pat him down and ordered him into his car.

"You never know it will happen until it happens to you,” Jones said. "So he just went over here and drove me around trying to drive me around to the ATM machine and I said I don't have no money or nothing, man. He said you got something or we're going to kill your a** or something, and I said OK."

Jones said he decided to crash the car on Reading Road when the armed man ordered him to drive on the interstate.

"I got on Reading Road and I said this is not going to happen, so I start trying like I'm going to hit cars and hit poles and ran into all of that and he get out and start taking off running,” said Jones.

Cincinnati Police Capt. Martin Mack said Friday police are still investigating what happened and had nothing to add at this time.
