“If the next summer-camp won’t be better, I will never go on any camp again.”
This is what I told my mum when I was 11 years old and she just picked me up from my first Christian-summer-camp. The following year I got to know a camp method that fascinated me.
Living in a different time, together with 200 other kids in the middle of the woods, learning how to build fortresses, experiencing what is like to fight together with Robin Hood for justice, and asking my self what that actually is, “justice”? Does the end justify the means?
With the age of sixteen, I started helping at these experiential educational camps, later I organized and led them, went abroad to teach camps and youth-groups using this method. Today I am the president of an international network for Christian experiential education. In my talk I will investigate how this “Robin-Hood-Camp” could have such a strong impact on my life and how these tools can also be used in education and youth work in Kenya."
