Irish Consumer Travel Awards 2009 The travel industry and media met this evening for a gala awards dinner at the Concert Hall in the RDS to celebrate the inaugural Irish Consumer Travel Awards. Hosted by Kathryn Thomas, the awards celebrate the very best of the travel industry as voted for by the Irish consumer. This is the first time Irish consumers have had the opportunity to vote for their favourite holiday destination, hotel, airline, travel agent, travel website and tour operator among many other categories. Thousands of votes were registered online with voting between 10th January and 31st March 2009. The voting and final results were independently counted by the Department of Tourism Research at DIT to ensure transparency.
