Who Is Jolien Coenraets? Jolien Coenraets is a young-graduate with a passion for IT and how it can change today's world. During her studies Computer Science Engineering at Ghent University, she started her own company together with some fellow students and friends who share the same passion. With their company, G-flux, they create smartphone applications and accompanying websites that 'play the world for good'. These are mostly related to GPS technology, outdoor sports and contain a fun element. Their newest product, Mission Atlantis, aims to motivate employees to exercise more and help them improve the team spirit within these companies. G-flux won the Start-Academy business competition with this concept. Besides working in her own company, she's also a teaching assistant at Ghent University for the courses Software Architecture and Software Design Project. Within these courses she tries to instill enthousiasm in the next generation of software developers, encouraging them to start their own company and to find the fun of creating high-quality software for the customer. Next to her job, Jolien has an interest in stimulating student-entrepreneurship, attract more women to IT and volunteering at inclusive youth organization yieha!. What is this talk all about? About TED and TEDx In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
