Since 1964, the U.S. State of Virginia has consistently voted Republican in presidential elections. But this year it may vote Democratic. Recent state polls give Democratic nominee Barack Obama a six to eight point lead over Republican rival John McCain. With a population of over seven million, Virginia is the 12th largest state in the country. In a close election, it could deliver either candidate the margin of victory. VOA's Brian Padden recently crisscrossed the state and talked to three groups that could have an impact on who becomes the next president of the United States.
