In a groundbreaking talk, Dr. Tomicah Tillemann outlines how leaders in finance and civil society are coming together to tap $25 trillion on behalf of social impact. You'll never look at the stock market the same way again.

In October 2010, Secretary Clinton appointed Dr. Tomicah Tillemann as Senior Advisor for Civil Society and Emerging Democracies, a role in which he continues today with Secretary Kerry.
Dr. Tillemann often refers to his work as "policy entrepreneurship" where he and his team operate like venture capitalists to identify ideas that can strengthen new democracies and civil society, and then bring together the talent and partners, technology and resources required to translate concepts into reality.
Dr. Tillemann is a co-holder of four patents on advanced clean technologies and a co-founder of IRIS Engines. Dr. Tillemann has also helped to found and lead numerous civil society organizations, including the Lantos Foundation for Human Rights and Justice and the Student Campaign for Child Survival.
Accepted to college at age 14, Dr. Tillemann received his BA magna cum laude from Yale University.  He holds a Ph.D. with distinction from the School for Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University (SAIS) where he also has served as a graduate level instructor in American foreign policy.
Dr. Tillemann has lectured at Yale, Princeton, and Williams, and testified repeatedly before Congress.  His academic awards include a Fulbright-Hays Scholarship and a Mellon Research Grant.
