Take an up-close look at the incredible, highly structured world of Trinidad's famous leaf-cutter ants, locally known as the "Forest Bachac"!
Filmed in the peaceful, remote village of Icacos—located at the southwestern-most tip of Trinidad and Tobago—I captured these hardworking insects on their fascinating daily routine. Every morning like clockwork, starting around 8:00 AM, these tiny creatures emerge to begin their heavy lifting chores, carrying perfectly balanced grains of rice and freshly cut green leaves back to their underground colony. By 11:00 AM, as the tropical sun heats up the day, they vanish back below ground.
Video captured on location in Icacos, Trinidad, and produced by Zerina Phillip.
