One poll, 24 hours and a tie-breaking Ludo match later, we finally here, damn it! For those of you who don't know [or new Owlians who're visiting this VM in 2018 or something]: around the time this was first released, I was working on another VM as well: that Spanish one. And I was dropping random hints and teasers regarding both VMs, as I do; and, apparently, driving my Owlians insane with curiosity in the process [I mean, EVIL WALI - WHAT?! Despacito on a Pakistani couple?! GET OUT OF HERE!]. So, I thought it's only fair to let them decide which VM they wanted to watch first. First, I ran a poll on my Twitter, which—24 hours later—resulted in a frustrating tie. Then, for the tiebreaker I decided to host a Ludo match, wherein I asked my Owlians to choose a side (Wali/Despacito); and winner's namesake VM shall be released. VOILA! LOL. Yeah, we take our VMs very seriously. A couple of days ago, I posted an eerily lit screenshot of a rather menacing looking Wali, with the caption 'I'm about to become the most hated person in the DeD/WaFa fandom.' And now you know the 'hanh? What? Why?' of it all. Lol. Toh bataayen? Scared of Wali yet? Diyar-e-Dil is one of my all time favourite shows [a moment for you go to 'duuuhhhh!']; so much so, that I believe a part of it kind of belongs to me. [I hope Farhat Ishtiaq never reads this caption! *runs and hides in cupboard*] Ab apna lagta hai, toh main haq bhi jataati hoon. Which is why I love playing with the characters and the story; twisting the narrative around as I please; presenting it sometimes as funny, sometimes as cute. One genre, however, I never got the chance to explore was thriller/horror. You know, the depressingly dark, wonderfully warped, terribly twisted likes! As much as I love Wali Suhaib Khan—and hate Kaminoiz in equal measure, if not more—I've always wondered what it would be like if they were to switch places in Farah's life. The idea has been bhangraing around my head for a while now. However, it's only recently that it finally got tired and decided to sit down in one place. That's when I got to take a proper look at it and thought to myself, 'hmm, this can actually be done! All you need to do this.. *cue whispers; camera zooms out*' Khair, ab kya mystery? VM aapke saamne hai! Hehe. The narrative is kind of similar to that of the 'Fanaa' VM I posted many moons ago [#NoMeansNoKhanzaday]. Or is it? Maybe just the obsessive lover/kidnapping bit. Anyway! In THIS universe, *books ticket to Gilgit; leaves you a handwritten note; says the next line in one breath* Farah-loves-Moiz-and-Wali-is-the-kabab-mein-haddi-who-despite-Farah's-disinterest-stares-at-her-incessantly-and-refuses-to-back-down! *runs away, jumps on the airplane and flies away* The note reads: ''IT HAD TO BE DONE!" Coming to the music. Muqabil's OST, 'Saaein Mere Saaein,' had me at first 'saaein.' The haunting melody and chilling lyrics hit you like a garma-garam paratha, that too, straight from the tawwah! It's one of those songs that, suno toh dil ghabraaye, nah suno toh yaad aaye. Okay, I'm clearly not a shayera, but you get the point! It's addictive. I can't say my usual 'enjoy/hope you like this VM,' cause you're probably getting out your pitchforks as you read this so: dekhain. Hate-ain. Judge-ain. Aap yeh sab karain.. jab tak hum bhaagain aur jaake kahin chhupain! *apparates into thin air* P.S. Something about this VM reminded me of chapter three of #WaliFarahKiStory. 'Banda chhuk ke le jaanda eh,' anyone? LOL.
