(11 Nov 2018) World leaders attended the Paris Peace Forum on Sunday, as part of the commemoration ceremony for Armistice Day. France's president Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel launched the three-day peace forum aimed at encouraging multilateralism, using their countries' reconciliation as a global example. US President Donald Trump, who has expressed disdain for multilateral organisations, skipped the event. The forum was opened several hours after world leaders had commemorated the 100th anniversary from the end of World War I in the French capital.
