We don't know what to do when confronted with a Gretsch like this: stare slack-jawed and drool at the beautiful birdseye maple with tortoiseshell binding, or jam for hours. It has a wonderful growly attack common on guitars with Bigsby tailpieces, and it inspires you to really dig in and pay attention to your right hand technique. All sorts of delightful percussive details come through, making this guitar a brilliant rhythm tool! After this initial attack, lots of overtones bloom across the harmonic spectrum. The high end gets a beautiful glossy sheen, the midrange grows muscles, and the lows widen out.

The bridge pickup will bring joy to players of many different persuasions. It has tight, snappy lows, a touch-sensitive midrange, and screaming highs. When you hit hard, the mids have lots of bite and snarl, and if you ease off they have more of a vocal quack. This dynamism, along with the sweet high-end resonance, makes it a great tool for rhythm and lead playing for just about any variety of rock as well as country and Americana (oh yeah, it can twang, too!).

The neck pickup has a surprising amount of sizzle in the highs above the woody, booming lows. The mids are also quite dynamic, but in a different way than the bridge pickup. They have an open-throated, sonorous quality when you lay off, but they become punchy when you dig in. Again, this makes for a dynamic playing experience, and it inspires all sorts of thick riffage and expressive soloing. It's the sort of neck pickup that can cover everything from Sabbathian doom to mellow jazz!
