Curt Tofteland is the founder of Shakespeare Behind Bars, an internationally acclaimed personal transformation program which combines art, theatre, and the works of William Shakespeare to create Restorative Circles of Reconciliation where incarcerated individuals seek to manifest habilitation. SBB has programs in Michigan and Kentucky prisons. Curt has thirty-four years of professional theatre experience as a producer, director, actor, playwright, program developer, teacher, artist-in-residence, and workshop facilitator. He is a published essayist and poet. Curt is the recipient of a variety of awards, including a 2011 Fulbright Fellowship in Australia. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
