At Money Show Las Vegas, Jack Ablin: I endeavor to manage money the way my clients would want to manage it themselves. We recognize that $10,000 loss dwarfs the benefit of a $10,000 gain. We align our strategy with our clients' sensibilities. We're doing goals-based investing. We adjust portfolios to meet their cash flow needs. You've insulated client goals from the vagaries of the market. Our clients are focused on what they want, what they need and what they'd like to have and not so much on the S&P 500. I wouldn't recommend buying Apple stock today in anticipation of paying your taxes next April. I don't know what's going to happen to Apple stock. That is aligning the investment with the goal and the time horizon. Our job is to help our clients meet those obligations they have.
