http://tedxpowellriver.com/  Heather Gordon-Young is a freelance writer who is passionate about the emergence of creative non-fiction as a leading contemporary genre and a powerful channel for social change. She currently serves as the Executive Director of Powell River Child, Youth and Family Services Society, a charitable, non-profit organization whose sixteen staff members dedicate their lives to serving children, youth and their families.  Heather is the Creative Director of The Humanity Gallery, a newly launched public art project designed to explore and celebrate the experience of being human. She completed her Master of Fine Arts degree in 2010 at Antioch University, Los Angeles. She continues to work hard at learning how to live as a truly compassionate human being.

Heather and her family moved to Powell River from Australia several years ago, with the vision to restore one of the original 1912 Powell River Townsite homes, and continue to be blessed by this amazing community.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
