Fans of Spain and Italy are little clearer on their prospects for Euro 2012 after a 1-1 draw on Sunday in Gdansk.

Antonio Di Natale broke the deadlock for the Italians after replacing a moody and misfiring Mario Balotelli.

Cesc Fabregas then drew the defending champions level after great play from Xavi, Andres Iniesta and David Silva.

Sunday's other opening Group C game saw Croatia ease past Ireland 3-1 in Posnan thanks to a brace from Mario Mandzukic either side of Nikica Jelavic's strike just before half time.
