I never went to summercamp but I do remember sending my youngest son, Carlos, to one several years back. Dozens of letters I would receive from him begging to be returned home. Well when I came to visit, it was a huge gathering of children that stampeded the camp grounds to run towards their parents. I was there waiting for my son to return to me, foolishly thinking that it was me he had missed dearly so. However, when the massive crowd subdued itself, Carlos was nowhere to be found. I hunt down a counselor and find the bunk he is staying in. There he is, alone on the floor, playing on one of his Nintendo machines. Not even making eye contact he yells at me: "bout fucking time, did you bring me that game I told you to buy." I sigh deeply, and we gather his belongings to a long drive home in complete silence.
