June 13, 2009 David M. Rubenstein is co-founder and co-CEO of The Carlyle Group. Prior to 1987, he practiced law, was deputy assistant to the president for domestic policy during the Carter administration, and served as chief counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Constitutional Amendments. Rubenstein is chairman of John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, a regent of the Smithsonian Institution, president of the Economic Club of Washington, chairman of Duke University, vice chairman of Council on Foreign Relations, co-chairman of Brookings Institution, and serves on many boards in the fields of arts, academics, economics, and more.
