--Overall Comments--

Applejack, Rarity, Rainbow Dash and their sisters are out camping, and wind up trapped in a cave hiding from Fly-ders.  While trapped, they keep themselves entertained by telling different legends.

Three different stories are told, each with their own characters and musical styles.  We first travel into the story of Rockhoof, who’s score brings a medieval styling to match the story’s setting.  Next, we hear about Mistmane, who’s setting is Asian-inspired, and who’s beautiful score follows suit.  Finally, we hear the tale of Flash Magnus, accompanied by some heroic and march score, similar to the Wonderbolts’ style.

While the episode only has 7 tracks of score, don’t let that fool you into think the music is a lightweight!  The score for each of the stories are more or less one wholly contained musical piece, so each story’s works out to around 4 - 5 minutes in length!  And boy, are those tracks gorgeous.

A lot to talk about this week, so let’s dive in!


--Track Specific Comments--

We enter Rainbow Dash’s tale.  This track encompasses the complete 4 minute score suite from Dash’s story.  

The score begins with an heroic march, one which unsurprisingly resembles the instrumentation of the Wonderbolts’ score.

Much more heavy bass brass is added in as the story introduces the attacking dragons, which follows suit to the instrumentation that the dragons received in past episodes, such as “Gauntlet of Fire.”

Heroic french horns are added in as Commander Ironhead hand Flash the fireproof shield Netitus.  The score returns to a march as Flash goes to take on the dragons.  It transitions to a more upbeat and fanciful heroic tune, like we’ve heard in past episodes such as “Rainbow Falls,” as he uses his shield to block all of the dragons’ fire breath.

The score ends with one more valiant cue as Flash saves the day.
