By Bill Sorem. Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar and FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski headlined a summit on FCC Broadband at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, August 24, 2010. The audience was mostly professionals in the telecom industry contrasted with the citizen participation in the FCC hearings in Minneapolis, August 19.Senator Klobuchar was very clear on her commitment to net neutrality, Chairman Genakowski was less certain. The focus of the summit was broadband access and how to create the infrastructure to support it.The US is far behind most industrialized nations in broadband access to the internet. The claim we can't afford it, was not acceptable to citizen activists.
