Chest pain is the 2nd most common reason for patients to visit the ED.  Dr. Erik Hess and the Knowledge and Evaluation Research Unit developed the Chest Pain Choice decision aid to engage patients and their clinicians in a joint discussion about the decision to stay in the hospital for advanced cardiac testing or go home.  

This decision aid provides an estimate of the risk associated with acute coronary syndrome within 45 days of ED visit from data readily available from the initial presentation, examination, and laboratory tests.
