YDM-4 diesel locomotive hauling train from Ooty to Coonoor

A passenger train from Ootacamund to Coonoor on the 1000 mm metre gauge Nilgiri Mountain Railway coasts down the gradient of 1 in 23.81 to change tracks before entering the station, hauled by a YDM-4 bio-diesel locomotive No. 6414. The trains on the non-rack route between Coonoor and Ooty are hauled by YDM-4 bio-diesel engines brought from the mainline network which is now converted to 1676 mm broad gauge under Project Unigauge of Indian Railways. The sound of the hand operated levers in the signal-cabin for changing tracks and signals is also audible.
