EPA cleans up abandoned Lunkenheimer site in South Fairmount

SOUTH FAIRMOUNT, Ohio (WKRC) - Cleanup is beginning at a long-vacant foundry in South Fairmount. Several companies operated at the Lunkenheimer site on Tremont Street from 1908 until 2017 when the property was abandoned. The Environmental Protection Agency will remove more than 655 gallon drums and 125 containers of hazardous waste, many of which are in bad condition. The cleanup will also remove sand contaminated with metal, PCB transformers, corrosive waste and ignitable waste.
