Let's take a break from fleeing from the forces of Asgard and do some side stories to utterly kill the pacing, shall we? 

I actually really enjoy this side battle. It's one of the more amusing ones. Also if you bring Cao Cao here, he has a lot of special dialogue. He was too low leveled for me to bring my first time playing this, but maybe I'll do the stage over with him at some other point. Anyways, we've had weird reports of our forces not responding to messengers in this area so Hanzo and Kunoichi go to investigate.

There's no enemies on the map to start off with. As we approach Jian Yong and some dialogue goes by, he suddenly attacks us. Notice he has a "confused" effect floating above his head. After we wail on him, he goes back to normal. Once the gates open we then see eeeeeveryone in the castle is an enemy to us. Fortunately, everyone we defeat will become an ally which will come in handy later.

We run into Xu Zhu who appears to be acting normal. Until realizing we don't have any food for him, so he goes into full on kill mode. It's basically the same for Yuan Shao, Dong Zhuo, and Yoshimoto here. Kunoichi continually comments how all of these guys are exactly the same, even when coming out of the mind control. 

As time passes, the ninjas mention how we should hurry or the one casting the spell may come back. I wasn't fast enough to defeat Yoshimoto in time before Sun Wukong appears, but you can still defeat them afterwords and they'll help in the fight.

Once Wukong sees all of his minions are freed or in the process of being freed, he'll make a break for the escape point. The officers you rescued will rush to stall him by forcing him to take other paths or generally slow him down. Xu Zhu is the best because he'll actually stop Wukong entirely to fight him. If Xu Zhu doesn't reach him, he will absolutely just rush to the escape point which will cause you to lose.

Wukong also appears with some demon generics, but if he's successfully stalled by your allies then you should have plenty of time to defeat them all. Xu Zhu can hold his own pretty well, doubly so if the others catch up to him. Once you mop up the officers, all we have left is taking out Sun Wukong to win.
