A small video of the 8am Super Plunge at Sandy Point State Park in Maryland. Justin Schlegel from Baltimore's 98 Rock leads the pack of super plungers out of the safety of the heated tent and into the freezing Chesapeak bay. His cartwheel needs some work but I give him credit for going waste deep into icy water. The public plunge at 1pm and 3pm was cancelled due to extreme weather. Winds were very high 20-30 miles per hour, temperatures were below freezing and snow was in the forecast. An ice wall had built up between the water and the sand and it was determined to be unsafe for the 7,000 people to attempt the plunge. While the plunge was cancelled, it still raised money for the special olympics.
