A global citizen and sincere proponent of service, Esther engages her audience with a discussion on the growing sphere of online activism. Particularly, she explores the merits, as well as common skepticism of social media activism, hoping to impart on her audience the importance of being a genuine contributor in today’s rapidly changing world.  When discussing the effects of social media on modern society, many cite negative phenomenons regarding attention span and superficiality. However, one important perspective in determining the value of social media in our world is its use in sociopolitical activism. Social media has given birth to many of the iconic movements of our century, but it also faces criticism over whether it has lasting visible impacts. Through this talk we will be analysing #Activism - are we even doing anything? This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
