In 2013, she was recognized by Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal for 40 Under 40, and by Minnesota Business Magazine for The (Real) Power 50.

This talk was presented at TEDxYouth@Fargo, meaning its primary intended audience is youth. Irene has done extensive work with youth over the years, ranging from middle school through college. While designed with this audience in mind, her messages have a much broader application than any single audience.

In this talk, Irene explores how we get to be who we are today thanks to the dedication of countless leaders we will never meet, people who do not get to reap the benefits of their own work. Through stories and powerfully phrased questions, Irene inspires and challenges us to ask ourselves: What will we do- TODAY- that will positively impact people we will never meet?

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
