في إثيوبيا، ساعدت الجهود المبذولة لنشر العاملين في مجال الصحة- في المناطق النائية من البلاد- في تخفيض معدل وفيات الأطفال تخفيضا حادا. وبدعم من يونيسيف، يحافظ العاملون في مجال الصحة على استمرار سير إثيوبيا على الطريق الصحيح للحد من وفيات الأطفال دون سن الخامسة بمعدل الثلثين، تساوقا مع الموعد النهائي عام 2015 الذي حددته الأهداف الإنمائية للألفية.
