If you'd overtaken in the next lane as you are supposed to and as the highway code asks you, then you wouldn't have hit me. If there isn't room to overtake in the next lane because of the oncoming traffic, then you need to wait behind, as the highway code requires you to. The lane is too narrow to fit a cyclist and a car next to each other with any safety. That is obvious to any careful driver.
