NOTE: Horace Heidt (b. 1901 in Alameda, CA  – d. 1986 in LA, CA) American pianist, dance band leader, and radio and television personality. At the University of California, Berkeley, he was a guard on the football team. A broken back caused him to give up football, leading him to turn his attention to music. He and some classmates formed his first dance band The Californians. In the 1930s his orchestra became one of the most popular radio bands. He continued his radio and tv career through the 1940s and 50s.
