Brian McElroy's talk challenges our perceptions of the line between sleep and wakefulness--calling into question our common assumptions about what it means to be "asleep."

Brian is a research assistant at the Higgins Sleep Lab, which is part of the University of Arizona's Department of Neuroscience. He is studying NSCS (Neuroscience & Cognitive Science) and Creative Writing. On the side he is employed at the local theater company Live Theatre Workshop as a stage manager, actor, and teacher. His passions include the brain, fantasy RPGs, classical guitar, politics, and absurdist theatre.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
